Weight Management
Weight Management
I’m Kimberly Handy and I am here to offer an integrative approach to Weight Management customized to your body’s needs.
Integrative Approach to Maximize Treatment Options
My approach to weight management is to combine the best of Conventional Medicine using medications like GLPs and GIPs while using the wealth of therapies available through a functional lens like Peptide Therapy, LDN, & Vitamin Injections.
We do not use phentermine.
Weight loss consultation is $200. The cost of medications are not included in the price.
Labs are not included. We are able to bill insurance for labs or we can provide low cost cash based lab services.
Weight Loss Injections
GIPs and GLPs
Using GLP medication for weight loss with a Functional Lens provides our patients with a whole person plan to address the reasons behind weight gain and the strategies to ensure lasting results.

At Carolina Integrative Wellness, we believe in addressing weight challenges by treating the root causes—hormonal imbalances, metabolic dysfunction, inflammation, and more. That’s why we’re excited about the emerging role of GLP-based therapies in sustainable, functional weight loss. These innovative tools, when used responsibly and under professional supervision, can support your journey toward lasting health.
Rather than focusing solely on calorie restriction, we take a holistic view of weight management. Our approach combines:
- Hormonal Support: GLP-based therapies can help restore balance to the gut-brain-metabolism connection, reducing hunger signals and supporting healthier eating habits.
- Metabolic Rebalancing: Improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation, and better glucose regulation are often seen with GLP-pathway activation—key factors in overcoming weight resistance.
- Lifestyle Integration: We pair any therapy with personalized nutrition, movement, and stress-reduction strategies to address the whole person and create sustainable change.
Sustainable, Personalized Results
When used as part of a functional medicine plan, GLP-based interventions may support significant weight loss outcomes over time—without relying on one-size-fits-all solutions. Our team will work with you to determine whether these therapies are appropriate for your unique health profile and to build a program that empowers you for the long haul.

What to expect during your weight loss consultation
1. In-Depth Discussion of Your Health History
- Review of Medical History: We’ll begin by discussing your complete medical history, including any previous weight loss attempts, current medications, and relevant health conditions. This helps us understand your overall health and how it might be impacting your weight.
- Lifestyle and Dietary Habits: You’ll talk about your current lifestyle, including your eating habits, physical activity level, sleep patterns, and stressors. We’ll also explore any environmental factors that may be influencing your weight. If you are keeping a food log please send it in advance of your appointment to our email info@carolinaintegrativewellness.com.
2. Identification of Root Causes
- Exploring Metabolism and Hormones: We’ll delve into potential metabolic issues, hormonal imbalances, and other underlying causes that might be contributing to your weight gain. This could involve discussing symptoms of conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, or insulin resistance.
- Behavioral and Emotional Factors: If relevant, we’ll explore any emotional or behavioral challenges, including disordered eating patterns, that may be affecting your relationship with food and body image.
Who Benefits from Functional Weight Loss at Carolina Integrative Wellness?
At Carolina Integrative Wellness, we understand that weight challenges are rarely caused by willpower alone. Many of our patients come to us feeling frustrated after years of trying diet plans, exercise programs, or medications without long-term success—because the real issue was never fully addressed.
Our functional weight loss program is designed for individuals who need more than just calorie counting. Using tools like our InBody scanner to assess body composition and lean mass, we dig deeper to uncover the true reasons why the body is holding onto weight.
We commonly support patients dealing with:
-
Hormone Imbalances: Including estrogen dominance, low testosterone, or imbalances related to perimenopause or menopause.
-
Thyroid Dysfunction: Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s often go undiagnosed or undertreated in conventional care.
-
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A condition that often leads to insulin resistance and stubborn weight gain.
-
Cortisol Dysregulation: Chronic stress and adrenal fatigue can sabotage metabolism and sleep, making weight loss more difficult.
-
Gut Issues & Food Sensitivities: Inflammation, leaky gut, and unidentified allergies can contribute to systemic stress and bloating.
-
Vitamin & Nutrient Deficiencies: Low levels of B12, iron, magnesium, and more can drain energy and impact metabolism.
-
Type 1 Diabetes: Patients managing T1D need careful, personalized support to balance glucose while working toward body composition goals.
If you’ve ever been told to “just eat less and move more” without your full health picture being considered, our team is here to offer a more informed, compassionate, and results-driven approach.
